Learning by Speaking
Our School Language Learning Trips offer the perfect combination of communicative language learning and a variety of stimulating spare-time activities. The whole concept of summer camps originated in the USA, where they have become widespread and highly popular. What our camps have in common with those in the USA is the driving objective to do something productive, have fun and to make new friends along the way.However, fun isn't the only thing included, as there's also the foreign language aspect! Our team of specially trained, native-speaking instructors communicates with the children solely in the foreign language and they constantly encourage the children to put their language skills into practice.
Our instructors also make sure that great importance is placed upon the camp's language learning motto, 'learning by speaking'. In this way, the participants not only learn during the morning language training sessions, but they also actively use the foreign language all day long.
Our Experience
Berlitz has organized language learning camps for children and teenagers for over 10 years! Our first two camps took place in Germany in the summer of 1999 and already attracted 40 children each. Since then, more and more children and teenagers have been coming to us each year. In total, over 50,000 children and teenagers have enthusiastically attended our language learning camps in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg, including 10,000 just last year.
A great number of them return to the camps every year, bringing their friends along with them. Of course the ever-increasing number of returning participants makes us very happy, but it is also confirmation of our successful work. Even though our camps have grown a lot over the past years, we are happy that we retain a very personal relationship with the children and their parents.
